Position OverviewThe Information Technology Open Rank Professor of the Practice is a non‑tenure‑track teaching position with an inaugural 3‑year fiscal‑year appointment at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus. The faculty member will teach in undergraduate IT & Applied Cybersecurity programs, the Master’s program in Information Technology, and related graduate certificate programs in various formats (in‑person, hybrid, online). The appointment is 1.0 FTE, 80% teaching, 20% service.
Responsibilities- Teach eight courses per year across the IT programs, including curriculum development, instructional design, virtual classroom management, grading, and continuous improvement of teaching.
- Maintain and update course curricula to ensure relevance to industry needs and academic best practices.
- Evaluate student performance through examinations, assignments, projects, presentations, and other assessment methods.
- Engage in professional service such as program promotion, curriculum enhancement, scholarly and pedagogical development, student mentoring, and collaboration with faculty and staff at the Edwards Campus.
- Stay current on IT industry developments and academic best practices.
- Assistant Professor of the Practice: 3–5 years
- Associate Professor of the Practice: 5–15 years
- Professor of the Practice: 15+ years

SalaryCommensurate with experience and qualifications.
