EECS Lecture Assistant | Student

Position Overview

EECS Lecture Assistants will aid instructors during lecture activities and work directly with their instructor to discuss any preparation work needed prior to lectures. A Lecture Assistant is expected to attend every session of a particular lecture (e.g. MWF 9am EECS 168) and is not permitted access to student grades. The goal of this job is to reduce the student-to-instructor ratio and to provide peer support to the students currently taking the course.

• Assist students in class activities (90%).
• Collaborate with the professor to ensure activity assistance goes smoothly (10%).

• Must have passed the course they will work in with a B or higher, or have instructor permission.

• During the semester, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods, the student hourly must have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester, be enrolled in summer session, or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
• Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. Exceptions for GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply to Student Hourly appointments.

• Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
• This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
