We are currently seeking a highly-qualified, charismatic, and inspiring educator to teach Middle School Science (Grades 7–8) at our Sagamore Hills Campus.
This person will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging and inclusive lessons in Middle School Social Studies tailored to the individual needs of students with learning differences. Additional responsibilities include developing curricula, providing instructional support, and fostering a positive and structured classroom environment that supports academic and social growth. Collaboration with colleagues, effective communication with families, and active participation in professional development opportunities are also key components of this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction and Management
Academic Preparation: Prepare thoroughly for each assigned period to ensure content is presented in a structured, systematic way and skill deficits are remediated appropriately.
Specialized Methodology: Utilize specialized Lawrence School instructional methodology following appropriate training in such models.
Environment: Maintain a highly structured classroom environment that minimizes disruptions and distractions and is supportive of all students and their unique learning needs.
Behavioral Management: Follow Assertive Discipline in responding to student behavior and seek assistance from the Campus Leadership Council when situations are intense or ambiguous.
Instructional Support: Integrate diverse learning strategies and utilize various technology tools present in the classroom to enhance learning.
Administration: Perform assigned teacher duties appropriately, consistently, and promptly. Ensure administrative staff has accurate and up-to-date attendance information daily.
Preparation and Follow-Up
Grading: Input grades into the approved database system, ensuring current week's grades are posted for viewing by parents by Friday of each week.
Planning: Completes curriculum maps biweekly to plan how academic skills are taught, executive function needs supported, and skills assessed.
Reporting: Complete assigned reports thoroughly and promptly, including IEP progress reports, grade reports, and other documents.
Compliance: Review and recommend updates to Student Learning Plans
; report any case of suspected child abuse or neglect to the Head of Upper School, Division Directors, or Head of School on the same day received.
Leadership
Collaboration:
Communicate effectively and frequently with the Campus Leadership Council on issues related to students, parents, or school operations.
Parent Communication & Service
Responsiveness: Follow up on parent contacts within 24 hours

Touchpoints: Communicate effectively and frequently with parents, meeting or exceeding contract requirements.
Events: Prepare for and participate in parent conference events (November and March) and special meetings related to students assigned to the classroom.
Outside of the Classroom
Mission Support:
Supports the mission of Lawrence School.
Professionalism: Maintain a positive, professional presence in the school while attending school-sponsored activities and when representing Lawrence School in the larger community.
Campus Life: Advise at least one extra-curricular or athletic program per year.
Professional Growth: Attend and contribute positively to mandatory weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings. Inform the Academic Dean and Division Director at least 24 hours in advance if unable to attend.
Collaboration: Treat each student, co-worker, parent, and community member with consistent respect; actively seek opportunities for cooperation and collaboration.
Operational Duties: Maintain accurate records; complete and submit required paperwork to the proper office according to the deadline. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, and SkillsEducation: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education or a related field; teaching certification is required.
Certification:
