Job GoalThe job of Student Club Sponsor – Academic/Activity Clubs is to coordinate and guide students participating in club activities, ensuring compliance with policies, promoting participation, supervising student activities, and coaching students for competition and leadership development. Assigned as a student club advisor at the High School or Middle School level.
Qualifications- Current certified staff (preferred)
- Activity specific experience considered
- CPR/AED certified or willing to obtain and maintain certification
- Coordinates a variety of activities related to the specific program that may occur during the school year and summer (e.g., competitions, field trips, fund-raising events) to implement scheduled activities.
- Guides students in developing program objectives and identifying activities and tasks to be implemented throughout the year.
- Identifies program needs and provides recommendations or approves expenditures for equipment and supplies that enhance the assigned student activity.
- Participates in program meetings, provides guidance to students, oversaw group activities, and ensures program objectives are achieved.
- Performs other related duties to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Promotes the program (e.g., club fairs, announcements, flyers) to increase interest and participation.
- Supervises student participants during activities (e.g., competitions, travel, meetings, overnight, out-of-area trips) to ensure compliance with program objectives and a safe learning environment per district standards.
- Transports student participants to and from scheduled events.
- Ability to speak clearly and audibly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical manner.
- Ability to analyze a situation quickly and provide prompt advice.
- Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely, and helpful manner.
- Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Current USD 497 certified staff members receive a stipend of $1,525 for the season, paid over the teacher contract.
- Non‑current USD 497 staff receive the same stipend of $1,525 for the season, paid over the season. If classified employment with the district is later accepted, classified staff pay applies for the remainder of the season.
- Current USD 497 classified staff member will be paid $7.25 per hour for hours worked.
Twelve‑month supplemental contract — salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation.
The tasks listed may change at the discretion of the superintendent; the incumbent may be assigned additional duties as requested.
