Position Overview

The University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice seeks a full‑time faculty member for a 12‑month, clinical track (non‑tenure) position at the assistant or associate level. The successful candidate will teach, assess, and coordinate courses in the didactic and pharmacy skills curriculum and oversee the Pharmacy School summer camp on the Lawrence campus. Travel among the Lawrence, Wichita, and Med Center campuses may be required occasionally.

Teaching

(75%)
  • Instruct, assess, remediate, and coordinate didactic and laboratory courses in the Pharmacy School curriculum for the Pharm.

    D. program.
  • Teach pharmacy skills and elective courses within the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
  • Coordinate the Pharmacy School summer camp, scheduling activities with the Dean’s office, ordering supplies, preparing handouts, and leading hands‑on activities.
  • Serve as preceptor for a summer camp teaching rotation offered to fourth‑year pharmacy students.
Service (15%)
  • Serve and chair university, school of pharmacy, and department committees; hold elected positions in professional organizations; serve on local, state, and national professional organization committees.
  • Advising pharmacy student organizations; refereeing journal and professional association materials; and engaging in grant review activities.
  • Provide community education and professional lectures to serve impacted communities.
Scholarship (10%)
  • Engage in research and scholarly activity, including publication of articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters; presentation at local, state, and national professional meetings.
  • Conduct practice‑based research, seeking funding as needed through grants, contracts, or direct support.
  • Plan and produce scholarship primarily during summer months due to the teaching load.
Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE‑accredited school; for pre‑2000 graduates, a BS degree is considered terminal).
  • Minimum of three years of work experience as a pharmacist in a practice setting.
  • Immunization certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach professional students in didactic and experiential settings.
  • License as a registered pharmacist in the State of Kansas or the ability to obtain licensure within 90 days of start date.
Additional Requirements for Associate Clinical Professor
  • A strong documented record of teaching, leadership, research, and service accomplishments.

Advertised Salary Range
