Special Education Teacher in Lawrence, KS

Multiple positions are available for the coming academic year, offering an enriching experience working on-site with students in both middle and high school.

Key

Qualifications:

• Active Special Education certification in the state of Kansas
• Experience working with students in Life Skills or Resource settings preferred
• Understanding of IEP processes and ability to develop/implement individual learning plans
• Strong communication and collaborative skills with teachers, administrators, and families
• Flexibility and positivity in adapting to different classroom needs
• Previous experience in a school environment or relevant internship/fieldwork

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and interventions to middle school students within Life Skills programs and high school Resource classrooms
• Design and modify curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student
• Track progress and document performance to support IEP compliance and continuous student growth
• Collaborate closely with support staff, paraprofessionals, and general education teachers
• Foster an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment that supports academic and social development
• Attend team meetings, trainings, and contribute to the school community as needed

This position spans the full academic year, with a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week. Onsite support and resources will help you thrive in your practice and professional development.
