Position Overview
Position Overview This position is responsible for instructing a variety of fire service programs and courses offered by the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute (KFRTI). They will serve as the lead instructor, assistant instructor, or safety officer (if qualified) to deliver KFRTI training programs. Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute is a KU Lifelong and Professional Education (LPE) unit. The Institute was created in 1949 by the Kansas legislature with the mission to train and credential Kansas firefighters in local jurisdictions. The Institute serves fire departments and firefighters through a “traveling instruction service,” providing hundreds of training and certification events each year in counties across the State.
The mission of the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute is to provide accessible, comprehensive training and credentialing for fire and emergency response personnel to promote health and safety in Kansas communities
Positions will provide temporary assistance in a variety of areas. Work may include, but is not limited to research, project or program assistance, and grant assistance. Work is completed within 999 hours per a calendar year.
Required QualificationsInternational Society of Fire Service Instructors Live Fire Training Instructor credential (or) KFRTI KS Live Fire Instructor course.
