This position (K0239384) requires a degree in geology, engineering, or a related environmental discipline and at least two years of supervisory experience. The incumbent will oversee the operations of the Solid Waste Permits Section, which includes solid waste landfills, solid waste processing facilities, and hydrogeology and groundwater monitoring units.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct supervision of the three Unit chiefs and a landfill permit engineer.
- Conducting personnel assignments, evaluations, and performance goal setting.
- Providing staff training, technical guidance, and communication of expectations.
- Stimulating productivity across the section.
- Establishing routine and non-routine assignments in consultation with unit leaders.
- Performing final engineering reviews of all solid waste permits and permit modifications for completeness, professionalism, and accuracy.
- Education: High School or GED.
- Licensing & Certification: Valid driver’s license;
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required. - Minimum Qualifications: Two years of supervisory experience; P.E. license required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; strong proofreading, editing, and attention-to-detail skills; background in environmental or civil engineering; experience managing an environmental permitting program; experience reviewing engineering design plans for regulatory compliance; experience interpreting environmental regulations; strong leadership and interpersonal skills; demonstrated leadership experience in an environmental program.
- Pay Range: $45.47–$52.71 per hour; salary may vary based on education, experience, or qualifications.
