Cost Accountant

Our client, a manufacturing company in the Lawrence area, is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their Accounting and Finance team.

As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate job costing, analyzing manufacturing performance and supporting financial reporting. This position works closely with leadership to improve processes, eliminate errors, and maintain financial integrity.

• Manage daily work order processing and partner with leadership to identify and eliminate errors
• Analyze labor and production data to calculate Units Per Labor Hour (daily, weekly, monthly) and ensure product cost accuracy in the system
• Perform monthly financial activities including journal entries, P&L review and variance analysis
• Support business operations through cost tracking, project analysis, and preparing cost quotes for leadership
• Maintain Inventory Ledger (IL) and General Ledger (GL) accuracy, conduct obsolete inventory analysis, and present monthly product cost reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred but not required
• 2–5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience is preferred
• Strong knowledge of financial systems and advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reporting)
