Chenega Government Mission Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Laboratory Medical Technician at the Haskell Indian Health Center. This is a full-time, Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. position supporting the Clinical Laboratory Scientists and HIHC Laboratory Program as assigned.

Responsibilities- Performs patient phlebotomy by venipuncture and capillary methods, utilizing age-appropriate communication skills in explaining venipuncture and or capillary draw procedures to patients; in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
- Performs specimen collection, procurement, and processing in a timely manner using laboratory guidelines. Accurately identifies, labels, and logs all specimens.
- Perform Waived testing on Patient Samples in accordance with established methodology manuals, technical references and precedents, exercises judgement to locate and select the appropriate guides and references to apply for specific purposes.
- Load Patient Samples onto instruments in accordance with established methodology manuals, technical references and precedents, exercises judgement to locate and select the appropriate guides and references to apply for specific purposes.
- Interprets results of sample analyses in order to recognize the anticipated reactions as well as departures from the norm and facilitate collaborative discussion with medical staff. Exercises professional judgment and experience in determining the causes and possible significance of improper or imprecise outcomes. Performs troubleshooting and resultant corrective actions as required.
- Adheres to all laboratory policies, including correct patient identification using two patient identifiers and labeling specimens in the presence of the patient.
- Follows all reference laboratory specimen collection and processing instructions for shipping and transport.
- Performs quality control, calibration and basic instrument maintenance on all equipment and testing platforms.
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Have at least one year of Laboratory Medical Technician and Phlebotomy experience.
- Preferred:
Phlebotomy certification.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers, including accessing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the Laboratory Information System (RPMS) for reviewing orders, accessioning samples, printing reports, and related tasks.
- Provides clerical support and demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers, telephones, copiers, shredders, and fax machines.
- Maintains the laboratory as a safe, hazard-free environment.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive rapport with facility staff, projecting professionalism in conduct and appearance at all times.
- Must be able to perform phlebotomy on all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric patients.
USD $30.26/Hr. Up to USD $30.26/Hr.
