SummaryThe Traffic Control Technician provides responsible technical duties in support of the activities and services of the traffic engineering division including installing and maintaining traffic control signs and markings, performing field maintenance services, sign design, sign fabrication, inventory control, and traffic counting; and to provide technical support to the traffic engineering division.
Responsibilities- Key job duties include completing data entry and various forms to document work completed, equipment and/or supplies used.
- Assisting with traffic counting via equipment and manual counts.
- May be required to respond to emergency call out situations; install temporary control devices; remove and install signage in all types of weather; assist with directing traffic in emergencies.
- May be required to be on-call on a rotating basis.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade required; prefer education be supplemented by specialized training in sign design and fabrication, sign installation, sign field maintenance, traffic control requirements or a related field.
- Strongly prefer two years of increasingly responsible experience in sign installation, sign field maintenance or a related field.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class A Commercial Drivers license within six-months of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, IMSA Work Zone and Level I or II Signs and MARKINGS certification within one year of appointment.
- IMSA Level I Signals, and CFOT Level I within two years.
- The successful candidate must pass a background check, post-offer physical and drug screen.
