Overview
This position performs skilled, semi-skilled, technical, and manual labor involving equipment preventative maintenance; process operations of wastewater treatment facilities, and other utility facilities.
Responsibilities- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This involves adjusting biological and chemical treatment processes based on data from analyzers, gauges, laboratory results, data trends, and SCADA systems, as well as collecting and recording samples for regulatory compliance and process control.
- Perform routine inspections of plant equipment and facilities, operate pumps, motors, valves, and chemical feed systems, and maintain accurate operational logs and records.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment or process issues, assist with preventive maintenance and overall facility upkeep, and respond to alarms, emergencies, and after-hours callouts as needed to support continuous 24/7 operations.
- This position requires working 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be willing and able to work nights, days, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Training in water or wastewater treatment operations (or equivalent knowledge of biology, chemistry, or related field), mechanical systems, or equipment maintenance preferred.
- Although no experience is required, the preferred candidate will have one to two years of responsible experience in water and wastewater operation, as well as basic knowledge of mathematical principles and computer-controlled systems.
- The successful candidate must pass the City background check, post-offer City physical, and drug screen.
