Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented machinist to join our Tool Room team. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting molds and related equipment to support efficient production operation. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with machining equipment and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Looking for experienced G Code programming but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC and manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, surface grinders, /OD grinders, and drills to produce precision parts.
  • Able to set up machines to specifications, selecting tools, materials, and machine settings.
  • Able to set and adjust controls during operation to maintain performance and accuracy.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining specifications.
  • Follow instructions accurately and collaborate with leadership when needed.
  • Able to operate molding machines for repairs and preventative maintenance along with troubleshooting skills. Able to assist Mold Techs with mold repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Measure, examine, parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Inspect components for defects or inconsistencies and ensure conformance specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn tooling or components.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and report malfunctions for repair.
  • Follow all workplace PPE and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and co-workers to ensure production goals are met.
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Participate in training.
  • Machinists play a critical role in manufacturing industries ensuring that all parts meet precise specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
  • Knowledge of injection mold components and systems.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Good mathematical, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Comfortable working around grease, oil and solvents.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Forklift and crane certification required (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to work from heights.
