Located in a vibrant college town, Story Hill Church in Lawrence, Kansas, is seeking a Lead Pastor to serve as a key spiritual leader alongside our elder team. We're looking for a gospel-centered shepherd who will faithfully preach the Word, disciple believers, care for people, and engage the broader community with the love of Christ.
About UsStory Hill is a young, multigenerational church with deep roots in Lawrence and strong partnerships through the Salt Network and the SBC. Our mission is simple: connecting your story to the story of God. From kids and youth to college students and families, we help people follow Jesus in everyday life. Each Sunday, over 400 gather for worship and biblical teaching, and our Salt Company reaches hundreds of students on KU’s campus.
Details- Location: Lawrence, Kansas
- Hours: Full-time (40–50 hours/week, including Sundays and some evenings)
- Accountability: Reports to the Council of Elders
- Supervision: Direct oversight of the Executive Director and Salt Company Director
Who We’re Looking For
A qualified candidate will:
- Model a life of faith, integrity, and godly character
- Meet biblical qualifications for an elder (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, Ephesians
4) - Have 5+ years of church leadership experience; a Salt Network or a like-minded church experience is a plus
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (required); theological training preferred
- Align with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000)
- Be a gifted communicator, team builder, and visionary leader who loves the local church
What You’ll Do
As Lead Pastor, you will:
- Preach and teach regularly (approx. 60% of Sundays), with a commitment to expository preaching
- Lead with vision, working alongside elders to cast direction and advance the mission
- Disciple and shepherd the congregation through relational and spiritual leadership
- Oversee staff, operations and ministries in partnership with the Executive Director, Worship Pastor, and Salt Company Director.
- Model and mobilize local and global outreach efforts as we seek to make Jesus known beyond our walls.
