Overview
Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment
Location: Lawrence, Kansas
Position Type: Full-time
Reports to: Director of Nursing
We seek a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide high-quality care to individuals experiencing Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of addiction treatment, strong clinical skills, and excellent interpersonal communication abilities. This role supports the organization’s mission to help patients recover and achieve a healthier lifestyle.
Responsibilities- Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to patients with SUD, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assessing patient responses to treatment.
- Support Treatment Plans: Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and evaluate individualized treatment plans for patients, ensuring comprehensive care.

Education:
Educate patients and their families about SUD, medication management, and healthy coping strategies to support recovery. - Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, care plans, medication administration, and progress notes.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to medical emergencies and crises, applying appropriate interventions in a timely manner.
- Coordination of Care: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and refer patients to additional services as needed.
- Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe and compliant environment.
- Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients, promoting their rights and dignity throughout the treatment process.
- Education: Completion of a Practical Nursing program from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current and valid LPN license in the state of Kansas.
- Experience: Previous experience in addiction treatment, mental health, or a related field preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and nursing skills; effective communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team; knowledge of SUD treatment modalities and regulatory compliance.
- Certifications: CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Additional certifications in substance use treatment (e.g., MAT, ASAM) are a plus.
The LPN will work in a clinical setting, interacting with patients, families, and a range of healthcare professionals. This position may require flexibility in hours to accommodate patient needs.
