Job Description

QUALITY CONTROL - MICROBIOLOGIST I

Primary responsibility is to perform microbiological testing of finished products, process samples, raw materials, environmental testing, and all else necessary to ensure the safety and quality of all products.

• Investigate and assist in root cause analyses of microbial contamination.
• Prepare media and stock solutions necessary for the Micro. Lab.
• Responsible for obtaining, handling, and retesting of all recheck/replate samples.
• Responsible for the counting/interpretation of microbiological results, the reporting of the results to the appropriate personnel, and maintenance of lab records.
• Responsible for performing monthly environmental air testing, water testing, and weekly incubator temperature checks.
• Able to run Chemical QC lab analyses as necessary… ie. egg solids and % salt.
• Able to sample and test all incoming loads of eggs.
• Update microbiology procedures manual as needed.
• Maintain Micro Lab in a clean and orderly manner.
• Inventory supplies for the Micro Lab.
• Aid in R&D work, as necessary.
• Available to perform other duties as required or assigned by proper personnel.

• Accurately interpret and document microbial results.
• Maintain an inventory of lab supplies.
• Communicate clearly with other departments and maintain an open dialogue.
• Trend microbial data in a useful manner.
• Ability to observe and accurately inspect equipment for cleanliness.

• Education & Experience:
• College Degree is preferred.
• Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
