Assistant Store Manager

• Support the store manager and associates in providing an exceptional customer shopping experience while enhancing customer service standards to uphold Kroger's exemplary reputation.
• Collaborate with the store manager to guide teams in planning, implementing, and executing merchandising and operational initiatives.
• Assist the store manager in developing actionable plans and communications regarding Associate Insight survey results.
• Work closely with department heads and associates to identify opportunities for improvement, develop timely solutions, and create action plans to ensure effective implementation.
• Model exemplary customer service and proactively resolve any associate or customer issues and concerns.
• Oversee store operations in the absence of the store manager.
• Achieve and exceed weekly, monthly, and annual sales goals, wage budgets, profit targets, and other objectives such as safety and shrink reduction.
• Drive sales by collaborating with department managers to maximize profits, minimize shrink, and enhance each department’s contribution.
• Assist the store manager in discussing financial performance regularly with associates, focusing on areas such as sales, shrink, labor expenses, and safety.
• Analyze and respond to the competitive landscape within the district and division.
• Exhibit inclusive leadership and promote inclusive behavior among associates.
• Utilize coordinators and other field staff to help departments achieve sales and profit goals while ensuring the execution of division merchandising plans.
• Establish and support strong relationships with local community organizations within the store’s area.
• Assist in fostering productive relationships with union representatives if the store operates under a collective bargaining agreement.
• Communicate essential information to associates to help them effectively carry out their roles.
• Act as a liaison between store/district managers and coordinators regarding the effectiveness of merchandising and operational plans.
• Support the store manager in staffing efforts, reducing turnover, and enhancing retention.
• Provide timely feedback on individual and department performance to heads and associates.
• Assist in daily labor management and supply cost oversight to meet customer service and financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and enterprise policies among associates.
• Supervise and coach direct reports on their performance, conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• High school diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a department manager, service manager role, or a similar position.
• Approval from a store manager, district manager, or direct supervisor.

• Experience in retail management and a thorough understanding of all aspects of store operations.
• Supervisory experience with staff.
