Looking for a leadership role where you can make a real impact every day? As a Head Cashier at The Merc Co+op, you’ll help lead the front-end team, support cashiers, and create a welcoming, efficient checkout experience for our community.
This is more than a cashier role—it’s a hands‑on leadership position where you’ll guide daily operations, support your team, and step in as the go‑to leader when the Grocery Manager is not on shift.
About the RoleThe Head Cashier works closely with the Grocery Manager to keep the front end running smoothly. You’ll balance customer service, team support, and operational execution in a fast‑paced retail environment while helping the department meet performance goals.

- Support process improvements and department initiatives
- Oversee register operations and ensureaccuratetransactions
- Assist staff with payments, refunds, and troubleshooting issues
- Follow all cash handling and accounting procedures
- Experience with cash handling and point‑of‑sale systems
- Dependability, integrity, and accountability
- Ability to work 35+ hours per week
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in retail or grocery
- Experience training or coaching team members
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Comfort with basic reporting and cash reconciliation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
- Full‑time role (35+ hours/week)
- Requires standing and walking for most of the shift
- Involves lifting upto 50lbs, bending, and reaching
- Work may include exposure to varying temperatures
- $16.32 – $17.50/hour
