Grocery Clerk

• Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action.
• Provide customers with fresh and non‑perishable grocery products they have ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained, and temperature logs are kept.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions, making suggestions.
• Create an environment that welcomes, values, and appreciates customers.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions for management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict reasonably, non‑confrontationally, and cooperatively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
