Overview
The University of Kansas is seeking a General Maintenance Repair Technician in the HVAC unit. This position performs a wide variety of maintenance and emergency repair tasks to University buildings (physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems) and is involved in a regular program of inspection and repair at a journeyman level using more than one skilled trade. This position requires the operation of work-issued vehicles.
Work Schedule: M-F 7:30AM-4PM

50% - Follows an established inspection routine in an assigned group of buildings for needed maintenance and repairs to various mechanical/electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building structural equipment.
- Performs lubrication, cleaning, inspections, changes belts and filters in equipment.
- Performs repairs on heating, ventilating and air conditioning units, replace bearings, electric motors, gear reducer, air compressors, various electrical and pneumatic control components, etc.
- Maintains an adequate supply of tools, parts, and supplies for jobs.
40% - Responds to emergency calls/after hour emergencies:
- Repairs are performed timely and as expertise permits.
- May assist other central shop staff with more complex repairs.
- Respond during loss of utilities or equipment failure.
- Reset equipment and assists with repairs on HVAC equipment.
10% - Other Related Work as Assigned:
- Assists with other maintenance areas and in other work areas as assigned. Assists with snow removal and surface treatment.
