Non-Instructional Monitor
Position Type: Part‑Time
Starting Date: Immediately
FTE: 0.375 (3 hours/day, 171 days/year)
Purpose StatementThe Non-Instructional Monitor monitors student activities in a variety of school settings to ensure safety and well-being, identifies potential problems concerning student welfare, safety, or security, enforces disciplinary policies and regulations, and reports observations and incidents to appropriate parties.
Essential Functions- Administers first aid when required.
- Intervenes in potential emergency situations to minimize campus disruptions and injury.
- Monitors students during assigned periods in various environments (restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) to ensure safety and welfare.
- Prepares written materials to provide support or convey information.
- Reports observations and incidents relating to students to instructional or administrative personnel.
- Supervises students on tasks such as campus cleanup, trash pickup, lunch area duties to ensure safe completion within required time frames.
- Assists other personnel as needed to support completion of their work activities.
Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Operate standard office equipment and software applications; prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Perform basic math, read manuals, write documents in prescribed formats, and present information.
- Understand complex, multi‑step written and oral instructions; apply age‑appropriate activities.
- Schedule activities, collate data, and use basic job‑related equipment.
- Work collaboratively with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; exhibit patience; work as part of a team; handle frequent interruptions; adhere to district policies; maintain regular attendance except for approved leave.
Work under limited supervision following standardized practices, provide information or advice to others, and operate within a defined budget.
Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity. Job involves 5% sitting, 50% walking, 45% standing. Exposure to risk of injury or illness in a clean atmosphere.
Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent. Job‑related experience is not required.
Clearances & TestingKansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Department of Children and Families, Physical Exam/TB Screening required.
Salary$15.46 per hour (Part‑Time).
