Join our team as a Therapeutic Foster Family Coordinator!

The Therapeutic Foster Family Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, support, and supervision of therapeutic foster families (TFFH) providing care to children and youth with complex emotional, behavioral, or developmental needs. This role serves as a vital liaison between foster families, agency staff, and community partners to ensure safe, stable and trauma-informed placements that promote placement stability for youth.
The coordinator provides consistent case management support, ensures compliance with TFFH licensing standards, and facilitates individualized care planning for each placement. Through regular communication, coaching and crisis support, the coordinator empowers foster families to provide high-quality, therapeutic care.

Hybrid work schedule: varies based on in person workload. 2-3 days in office required. Rotating on call schedule.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field licensable by the BSRB (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Two or more years of experience working with children and families in the child welfare, mental health or therapeutic foster care system

Licensure &

Certifications:

  • Licensure by the Kansas BSRB
    • * DCF exceptions may be granted for non-licensed applicants with experience and/or related degrees
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.
  • All KVC Kansas employees must be at least 21 years of age.

What you will do:

  • Provide intensive case management, coaching, and trauma-informed support to therapeutic foster families to ensure placement stability and child well-being.
  • Conduct regular home visits, phone check-ins, and safety assessments in compliance with agency, state, and licensing regulations.
  • Respond to crises with timely intervention and 24-hour on-call support as part of an assigned rotation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including DCF, schools, and mental health providers, to provide holistic care and coordinate resources.
  • Maintain meticulous electronic documentation, case notes, and reports within mandated timelines and legal standards.
  • Lead foster parent recruitment, training, support groups, and continuing education efforts to enhance caregiver skills.
  • Ensure all foster homes maintain continuous licensing compliance and assist families through renewal processes.
  • Participate in all essential proceedings, including court hearings, case plan conferences, and school meetings for children in care.
  • Provide culturally sensitive direct services, including client transportation and resource development, while advocating for the best interests of the child.
