Job Description

Position Summary

The Carroll School of Management at Boston College seeks an Assistant Director to serve as a key member of the Dean's Office team. Reporting jointly to the Dean and the Associate Dean of Finance and Administration, this position plays a central role in the school's day-to-day operations and strategic priorities. The Assistant Director manages the Dean's calendar and travel, coordinates university advancement activities, oversees the school's Promotion and Tenure (P&T) coordination process, and manages all building operations and IT-related matters for the Carroll School and its Centers.

This is a high-visibility, high-trust role requiring exceptional discretion, as the incumbent regularly handles confidential and sensitive information involving faculty, senior administration, and external partners.

  • Manage the Dean's calendar, screen requests for time, and coordinate all aspects of Dean travel, including itineraries and briefing materials
  • Serve as a liaison with senior University officials, faculty, students, and external vendors on behalf of the Dean's Office
  • Coordinate the Dean's university advancement and fundraising activities in partnership with University Advancement staff
  • Oversee the Carroll School's Promotion and Tenure (P&T) process, ensuring timely execution of all milestones and clear communication with all stakeholders
  • Manage space planning and facilities across Fulton Hall (160 offices), Carney Hall, and affiliated Centers, including new faculty office set-up and moves
  • Oversee building access, key inventory, and coordination with Boston College Police
  • Manage technology consultants, faculty equipment needs, licensing agreements, and the computer replacement program (BCCR)
  • Support day-to-day office operations for the Dean's Office and Carroll School faculty and staff

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $67,350 to $84,200; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 5+ years of relevant administrative experience required, ideally supporting senior leadership
  • Experience in higher education is strongly preferred, particularly with faculty affairs
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar), and general database familiarity
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential matters
