Overview
The Concord Museum, in historic Concord, Massachusetts, seeks creative and dynamic individuals to join its museum interpretation team for our Family Trees winter event from November 22, 2025 – January 4, 2026. Family Trees is a one-of-a-kind installation of dozens of stunning story trees crafted by talented local volunteers and organizations, each featuring elaborate hand-made decorations inspired by a picture book.
A centerpiece of the Museum’s community-focused programing, this popular annual event celebrates children’s books and a love of reading as families explore new story trees, sit and read together, or undertake a festive scavenger hunt.
- Greet visitors and answer questions
- Assist with way finding
- Maintain craft stations
- Help kids with the Family Trees scavenger hunt
- Monitor museum galleries to ensure the safety of the collection and decorated trees
- Provide a friendly, knowledgeable presence in the galleries
- We are prioritizing candidates who are available to work weekend shifts and holiday shifts (Friday after Thanksgiving, Friday after Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day).
- Experience in a customer service role or working with the public; comfortable interacting with families with young children
- Previous experience in a museum or other historic setting is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
- Interest in American history is highly desirable
This part-time seasonal position is suitable for college or graduate students, retirees, and others with a flexible schedule. Hours may vary from week to week for a total of 6 to 25 hours.
