Position Overview
The School of Engineering and Computational Sciences at Merrimack College is seeking applicants for positions of Adjunct Lecturers in Mechanical Engineering for Spring 2026 and future semesters. Applications in all areas of mechanical engineering are welcome, but applicants with the capability to teach Heat Transfer are especially encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for a Ph.D. candidate or post‑doctoral researcher seeking teaching experience, an industry professional who wants to stay current in the field, or a retired/recently retired engineer with expertise in these topics.
We can provide teaching materials and mentoring for first‑time instructors.
During the Fall and Spring semesters, most of our courses are taught during the day; however, some courses can be scheduled as evening offerings to accommodate students’ schedules.
Qualifications- M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with college‑level teaching experience preferred.
- Strong preference for candidates with industry experience.
- Cover letter stating motivation and interest in the position, citing experience relevant to the qualifications.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Teaching evaluations (past two years only), if applicable.
- Application is subject to the successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Minimum: $5,000 per 4‑credit course.
- Minimum: $3,750 per lab section.
- The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
