Job Description JOB GOAL
To implement an intensive skill based educational program that is grounded in the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience in special education preferred
- Physical condition capable of managing behaviorally/physically challenging students
- Such alternatives to the above as the Director of Special Education may deem appropriate and acceptable
WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF: Partner Classroom Teacher
SUPERVISED AND EVALUATED BY: Building Principal and/or Special Education Coordinator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily:
ensures the safety of all studentsprovides 30 hours of direct educational servicesincorporates specific educational objectives into the context of ongoing activities (as appropriate)facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skillscollects data on targeted skillscommunicates with parents of case student(s) via communication log (when directed by Partner Classroom Teacher)relays parent information to Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisormaintains student notebook in neat and orderly mannermaintains student specific materials, reinforcersperforms other duties as assigned by Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor within the scope of this job descriptionmaintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentialityimplements curriculum and/or curriculum material as requiredWeekly:
graphs, sums student dataparticipates in program meetings/trainingsrequests meetings with Partner Classroom Teacher and Specialists and Supervisor as neededMonthly:
meets with Partner Classroom Teacher for MBO (management by objective) meeting for case student(s)reviews progress on IEP goalsQuarterly:
participates in the writing of progress reports on case student(s)updates case student(s)’s guidelinesAnnually:
contributes to the development of the IEPparticipates in the administration of curriculum based assessments as prescribed by the Partner Classroom TeacherTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 183 school year days @ 7.3 hours per day
- 15-18 ESY @ 4.5 hour days (depends on school calendar)
- first year only 4-5 days of NECC training
