Position Summary:

Leahy Elementary School is seeking a dedicated Crisis Paraprofessional to support students with special education needs, particularly in grades 9 and 10. This role focuses on the development of the whole child-academically, socially, and emotionally-by implementing individualized supports, behavior interventions, and inclusive practices in both general and specialized classroom settings.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Provide day-to-day support for special education students in grades 9 and 10

* Implement strategies to support the development of the whole child

* Manage student behavior, particularly within substantially separate classroom settings

* Support the implementation and progress monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

* Collaborate with students, families, and staff to ensure IEP goals are met

* Participate in meetings related to IEP development and student progress

* Support delivery of high-quality curriculum that aligns with IEP goals

* Apply proactive, positive behavior management systems

* Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform support strategies

* Promote and assist in the inclusion of students into general education settings

* Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to support student needs

* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral strategies

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

* Capacity to implement behavior modification plans and data tracking

* Ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families

* Understanding of inclusion practices and classroom accommodations

* Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills

* Organizational and time management skills

* Commitment to equity and supporting diverse learners

Qualifications & Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required

* Associate's degree or Para Pro certification required

* At least one year of experience working with students with disabilities

* Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

* Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate certifications, if required

* Citizenship, residency, or work authorization in the U.S. required

Pay Range:

* $25.51 - $33.27
