The Leahy Elementary School is seeking a Grade 2 teacher for the school year. The ideal candidate possesses a belief that all students are capable of learning. Experience with co‑teaching and inclusion practices, including collaborative planning, is recommended.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Knowledge of early childhood development and best instructional practices
- Teaching core content classes in a self‑contained classroom/homeroom: ELA (CKLA), Mathematics (Eureka), Science, and Social Studies
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in using instructional technology
- Cultural competency and commitment to serving a diverse student population
- Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Willingness to reflect on practice and implement feedback
- Attending IEP, 504, student support, and team meetings
- Participating in grade-level and content vertical planning meetings
- Participating in the Warrior S.T.R.O.N.G. school‑wide positive behavior support protocols
- Experience in collaborating with social service agencies
- Strong facilitation and communication skills
- Proficient in English
- Bilingual candidates preferred
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred - Valid Massachusetts DESE Early Childhood (PreK‑2) teaching license
- SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement required
- Experience teaching in urban public school settings preferred
- Successful completion of all pre‑employment requirements
- U.S. citizenship, residency, or valid work authorization required
$61,788 – $94,614
