Position: Special Education Academic Evaluator (SY 2026-2027)
Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) is a nationally acclaimed free public charter school and one of the first charter schools established in Massachusetts. Job Summary:

The Special Education Evaluator/Learning Specialist partners with school leadership teams, special education staff, teachers and families to ensure students receive appropriate academic support and services through high quality evaluation practices. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Special Education, the Special Education Evaluator serves as an assessment and compliance specialist responsible for conducting academic evaluations, interpreting assessment data, supporting eligibility and IEP development processes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional and Assessment Responsibilities Administer academic assessments in accordance with standardized testing procedures and established protocols to ensure valid, reliable, and compliant evaluation results.

Conduct comprehensive academic evaluations as part of initial, reevaluation, and eligibility determination processes.

Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive evaluation reports and academic summaries that communicate student strengths, needs, and educational implications.

Support multidisciplinary teams in interpreting evaluation findings and understanding their impact on student learning and educational programming.

Participate in pre-meetings and consultation meetings to review evaluation results, discuss recommendations, and determine appropriate next steps.

Collaborate with IEP and Section 504 teams to develop individualized educational plans, goals, accommodations, modifications, and services that align with evaluation findings.

Provide guidance and recommendations to support evidence-based instructional and intervention planning.

Attend Student Support Team (SST) meetings, as requested, to provide consultation, review data, and support student observations.

Facilitate or lead IEP meetings, as needed, to present evaluation findings and support team decision-making.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Compliance and Case Management Maintain accurate and organized records of upcoming, in process, and completed evaluations.

Monitor and adhere to all federal, state, and district timelines related to special education evaluations, eligibility determinations, and IEP meetings, including required 30- and 45-school-day timelines.

Ensure all evaluation reports, documentation, and procedural requirements meet IDEA, Section 504, state regulations, and district compliance standards.

Family and Community Engagement Communicate evaluation results and recommendations to families in a clear, respectful, and accessible manner (in parent teacher conferences, IEP Meetings, etc.)Participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress, evaluation findings, and support strategies.

Attend two annual school Open Houses (Fall and Mid-Year) to foster family engagement and awareness of student support services.

Program Support and Collaboration Collaborate with the Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education, Special Education Coach, and Special Education Operations Fellow to review IEP files for compliance and maintain audit-ready student records and documentation.

Support the organization, maintenance, and filing of special education documentation in accordance with district procedures and compliance requirements.

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to special education processes, evaluation practices, and service delivery.

All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.

Hold a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Moderate Disabilities Teaching License in PreK-8 is required.

Previous experience working with school-aged children is strongly preferred.

Ability to adhere to strict testing protocols and standardized administration procedures ensuring the validity and reliability of assessment results.

Ability to demonstrate skills in collaborative planning and problem-solving.
