Academic Coach
Provide academic success coaching and study skill strategies to students at Northern Essex Community College. The role involves developing individualized coaching relationships, monitoring student progress, responding to academic alerts, and connecting students with campus resources and support services. Collaborate closely with faculty and student services staff, assist with data tracking and reporting, support student employees, contribute to enrollment and grant-funded initiatives, and help advance college-wide student success efforts.
Responsibilities include providing holistic academic and non-academic related supports to students, developing a student/coach relationship to assigned caseload of students; building student motivation and self-confidence, providing study skills strategies, equipping students with soft skills, including the ability to communicate with faculty, providing students with information regarding academic and other appropriate on-campus resources. Encourage students to be self-reflective about the learning process.
Monitor progress of academic success coaching students, maintain records of individual coaching sessions, utilize EAB Navigate system to monitor academic performance, provide outreach and respond to academic alerts, and create data reports as requested. Work in close collaboration with faculty, academic departments, student success services staff, and staff college-wide to deliver individualized academic success coaching support for student. Assist in managing and supporting student employees;
communicate with students, manage student access and provide reports. Assist in the collection of data and reporting, and with other office-related duties as needed. Collaborate college-wide to promote student success. Participate in enrollment activities inducing but not limited to orientation or registration events as appropriate. Support and assist in meeting various grant-funded program objectives. Participate in professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree with at least two (2) years of experience as an Academic Success Coach or related experience. Familiarity with a learning management system such as Brightspace. Familiarity with a customer relationships management (CRM) systems such as Navigate. Experience working with diverse student population including post-traditional and first-generations students. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience teaching learning strategies.
Experience with online courses (in order to help students with accessing courses and developing strategies for online courses). Experience working with an inter-disciplinary team within student affairs.
Preferred qualifications include experience in a higher education environment. Bilingual (Spanish/English). Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population.
Anticipated salary range is $65,370.00 - $70,427.00 (MCCC Pay Grade 4 with a bachelor's degree) annually with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system.
