Student Success Counselor

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve in a partner public school to provide daily academic and social-emotional support to students. Working on a diverse Ameri Corps team, you'll tutor in core subjects, lead small-group interventions, support positive behavior, and help implement whole-school initiatives. You'll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and communicate with families.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects
• Coach students in social-emotional skills, behavior, and goal setting
• Build positive, consistent relationships with a caseload of students
• Support teachers during class through targeted student assistance
• Assist with attendance outreach and family communication, as appropriate
• Plan and facilitate enrichment or after-school activities and clubs
• Track and document student data and progress toward goals

• Corps teammates and school staff on service plans
• Support school-wide events, initiatives, and positive school climate efforts
• Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and leadership development
