Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Lawrence, Massachusetts

Qualifications &

Experience:
  • DESE license required for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist/Teacher
  • Strong understanding of strategies and accommodations for K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Experience in educational settings supporting diverse learners
  • Ability to collaborate with fellow educators, families, and specialists
  • Proficiency in sign language is preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instructional support and consultation to students identified as Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Partner with general education teachers to adapt lesson materials and ensure accessibility
  • Monitor student progress and adjust supports as needed, confirming and managing caseload throughout the school year
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and participate in team meetings
  • Serve as an advocate for students, promoting inclusion and effective communication strategies
  • Liaise with families and community resources to foster student success
