About the RoleWe’re looking for a Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy on behalf of our client. This is a 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). You will serve as the Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and battery storage, reporting to the Project Manager/Commissioning Director. The role will start in either Missouri or North Dakota and will involve travel to other projects across the United States.
Per diem is available.
- Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
- Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start‑up personnel, third‑party start‑up contractors, and operations personnel on site during commissioning and startup.
- Maintain project reliability at operational turnover with minimal lost time during initial operation.
- Ensure compliance with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreements and Large Generator Interconnect Agreements.
- Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to meet project energization dates.
- Manage client’s on‑site commissioning personnel.
- Interface with project’s safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
- Provide progress reporting.
- Manage third parties, suppliers, and direct report team members.
- Plan and schedule project activities.
- Electrical construction and commissioning knowledge including NEC and NFPA.
- Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with E&I controls and instrumentation installation, start‑up, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting.
- Drawing review quality control inspection skills.
- 5+ years of on‑site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start‑up, and commissioning.
- 3+ years of experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start‑up, and commissioning.

Compensation and BenefitsBase salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $114.00/hr to $119.00/hr.
