Define, engineer, specify, plan, and manage follow-up on all activities; support manufacturing and qualification activities related to the Mechanical requirements of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical studies of filtration and chromatography systems.
  • Specify components according to customer specifications and maintain control on costs and schedule for the Mechanical portion of the project by limiting expenses to those allowed by the proposal/scope of projects.
  • Plan, organize and execute power up activities with staff electricians within the workshop.
  • Interface well with customers and the internal project team to effectively communicate customer needs to the organization and the company’s capabilities to the customer.
  • Support sales and visit customers to help define the specifications and the scope of work.
  • Define the nature of a quote request, study feasibility, and execute a quote according to current procedures; define needs in terms of tools and resources to fulfill quotation activities.
  • Familiarity with European and US codes and standards (ASME, BPE, XP, ATEX, CE, etc.).
  • Actively seek/evaluate new tools or components that help maintain/improve design efficiencies.
  • Maintain strong communication by providing regular feedback to the project team, manufacturing and customers.
Qualifications
  • Ability to review and approve project documents related to the Mechanical part of a project.
  • Adhere to and apply FDA, GMP, ASME, BPE, CE regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal product design development and manufacturing teams.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for drafting parts and instrument diagrams (P&’s).
  • Ability to update knowledge of technologies that are available internal and external to BPES.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office 365 applications;
    Projects, SharePoint, and AutoCAD.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 5-10 years of engineering experience, including experience with capital equipment. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is ideal.
Other Requirements
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small and large groups.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply mathematical skills and analyze performance trends in data; demonstrated experience applying structured problem-solving and decision-making tools and methods.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies and provide solutions; ability to identify problems, collect information, establish facts, and suggest solutions; ability to develop and support conclusions.

Physical Demands

Frequent communication (verbal and listening), standing and reaching are required. Vision abilities include close-up reading and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment is usually quiet. Safety glasses and other required protection should be worn when visiting manufacturing areas.
