Reporting directly to the CTO and charged with being the in-house EE expert and authority, for this 90+ person company, you will have great inward and outward facing visibility. You will regularly engage with customers and all internal engineering staff, as well as having significant New Product Development responsibilities, do R&D, support existing products, and the opportunity to be a creative technology leader with domain expertise.

Their engineering team is the largest independent optical engineering group in the world, managing all aspects of instrument design, including optics, mechanics, electronics and software systems, in addition to offering in-house Optical Test /Measurement Services for the benchmarking and performance assessment of customer optical components, lenses, imaging systems.

Their team continues to improve existing optical test and measurement product lines and develop new products that they manufacture and install around the globe.

Senior Electrical Engineer (Instrumentation):

RA’s client is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Electrical Engineer to join their R&D Team and take a leading role in growing the EE capability within their company. The ideal candidate will own all aspects of electrical design within our client’s existing products and new product development programs. This role is expected to exercise significant autonomy and initiative while keeping stakeholders informed of progress.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will also interface with clients and troubleshoot product electrical problems. This role reports directly to the CTO.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceive of and specify system level control architecture for new
  • Create schematic designs for circuit boards that are used in our optical instrumentation products. Functions on these boards vary but may include motion control (steppers and servo), laser diode control, incandescent source control, UART and CANbus communications, displays, microcontroller, and interfacing to various input devices.
  • Maintain configuration control of all circuit
  • Lay out circuit boards and produce fabrication
  • Test and troubleshoot
  • Specify cable harness designs and work with mechanical designers to create
  • Provide guidance to Production regarding best practices for integrating
  • Produce documentation (design records and work instructions where applicable).
  • Shepherd products through the CE certification process as
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or another related
  • At least 5 years’ experience with schematic design and board
  • Strong hands-on skills (soldering, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers )
  • Ability to write firmware and/or PC applications for testing boards is a
  • Experience with FPGAs is a
  • Good understanding of mitigation of susceptibility and emissions is a
  • Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and
  • Ability to form good working relationships and lead clients to good
