Position Summary:

The Co-ops support product or process development activities related to the design, research, and manufacturing of Fresenius Medical Care's Home Hemodialysis and Critical Care Nx Stage product  portfolio. As part of the R&D team, the Co-ops willparticipatein testing, design, building samples, and other activities required by the project team. Co-ops in this role will gain opportunities to work more independently and take onadditionalresponsibilities within their teams.

Depending on the project, Co-ops may be involved with system engineering, hardware mechanical engineering, ordisposablesengineering.

Core Responsibilities:

• Participate in design or development of new medical equipment or disposables and/or upgrades to existing products

• Assist with major projects, or phases of projects, to resolve advanced and complex technical problems

• Ensure all design activities conform to design controls; and that all analysis,designand testing activities are properly documented

• Participate in activities to ensure design and process shortcomings areidentifiedand appropriately addressed

• Assistthe product development team in the adoption and use of best practices and design methodologies

• Debug and develop reliability improvements for existing products and products under development.

• Provide technical support for product engineering, design development, integration,testand evaluation

• Investigate the feasibility of new projects,systemsor approaches

• Learn about and work in ways that are compliant with internal and external standards, good manufacturing practices, and quality system regulations

Requirements:

• Candidate for BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering

• Intermediate knowledge of CAD and Technical Drawing creation

• Basic understanding of product and process development of medical devicesor similar product experience is desired

• Prior relevant workexperienceis preferred, such asworking in an FDA, defense industryor ISO regulated environment

• Understanding ofaspects ofsystem design, electronics, mechanical and softwareintegrationormanufacturing processes is beneficial

• Prior experience designing for rapid prototyping as well as traditional manufacturing techniques desired

• Has a constructive approachtoteamwork and collaboration

• Demonstrated interest in medical device or pharmaceutical industries

• Excellent technical communication skills and attention to detail, including creating and editing technical procedures, protocols, and reports

• Commitment to performing all tasks with quality and integrity
