Electrical Project Engineer - EHV Substation (765kV)

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will:
- Serve as a technical specialist or project lead, coordinating, guiding, and providing expertise on assigned substation projects.
- Support substation projects up to 765kV in engineering, detailed design, and EPC.
- Develop protection and control design deliverables—protective relays, panel arrangements, single‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring, and equipment wiring within high‑voltage substation designs.
- Develop physical design deliverables—yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control‑building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems within high‑voltage substation designs.
- Perform or oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Prepare electrical equipment specifications and BOMs for procurement and construction.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Present proposals, designs, and project activities.
- Travel to client and vendor offices, project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification as required.
- Prepare and manage design budgets and schedules.
- Support business development and pursuit activities.
- Develop and apply design guidance, standards, and engineering codes; provide technical guidance to others.
- Ensure compliance with B&V quality program; oversee compliance and provide guidance.
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects; conduct research and recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
- Manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements; apply advanced engineering techniques.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams on moderately complex projects.
- Identify client interests and drivers; communicate them to project teams; develop approaches to accommodate concerns.
- Provide mentorship and support for professional development of lower‑level staff.
- Assist with resource management and engineering assignments for small teams.
- Extra high voltage (EHV) substation design experience (≥500kV) – Physical and/or Protection & Controls.
- Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
- QA/QC review experience.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with clients, multidisciplinary leads, and project managers.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records).
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, performance, and job assignments.
Compensation Transparency- California: $125,879 – $237,640
- Massachusetts: $131,352 – $219,360
