Position: Project Engineer - Direct Hire

Compensation

Compensation: $86,660 – $105,000 + 12.5% annual bonus

Role Overview

The Project Engineer provides hands‑on engineering support for the design, installation, commissioning, and modification of utility systems and manufacturing equipment within a food‑production environment. This role requires extensive time on the plant floor working directly with equipment, contractors, and production teams.

Education, Certifications & Experience
  • BS degree in Chemical
    , Electrical
    , Mechanical Engineering
    , or related discipline
  • 3+ years working with automated equipment in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Experience in aseptic and/or powder manufacturing preferred
  • 3+ years working with mechanical and electrical systems across varied applications
  • 3+ years experience with plant utilities and auxiliary systems, including:
    • HVAC
    • Fire/alarm suppression
    • Compressed air
    • Cooling systems
    • Boilers & steam
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Hands‑on, self‑starter mindset with desire for ongoing technical development
  • Solid foundation in plant engineering and applied mechanical/chemical engineering principles
  • Proven ability to proactively troubleshoot technical issues
  • Comfortable working directly with tools, equipment, and machinery on the production floor
  • Strong mechanical and electrical assessment skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex operational and business data
  • Knowledge of GMP
    , OSHA
    , and safety compliance
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, be on‑call, and travel as needed
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to interpret and implement regulatory and safety guidelines
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports, manuals, presentations, and summaries
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support management of CAPEX investments to meet time, cost, and project goals
  • Test newly installed machines to ensure compliance with contract specifications
  • Contribute to user requirements for new equipment and system modifications
  • Coordinate and manage line installations, start‑ups, and decommissioning
  • Provide on‑the‑floor troubleshooting and support for equipment during operations and capital projects
  • Support project teams with scope development, justification, design reviews, specification preparation, and factory acceptance testing (FAT)
  • Assess spare‑parts requirements and assist in developing preventive‑maintenance activities
  • Conduct equipment walk‑downs prior to handover
  • Address equipment issues, assess production needs, and coordinate with internal teams and contractors
  • Assist with specifications for procurement, installation, and modification of equipment
  • Reduce equipment downtime and support non‑capital modification projects
  • Support compliance activities related to deviations,
    CAPA
    , change management, and contamination investigations
  • Develop SOPs for equipment operation, settings, preventive maintenance, predictive analysis, and work‑order scheduling
  • Analyze workflows for productivity and review KPI monitoring systems
  • Maintain business cost and capital‑expenditure data for quarterly reporting
  • Prepare engineering calculations, diagrams, technical reports, and regulatory documents under engineering management supervision
Working Conditions

This role operates within a food manufacturing environment and requires adherence to all GMP

, workplace safety, and security policies. PPE such as hair nets, beard nets, and other protective gear is required.
