IC Resources is partnering with an innovative, venture backed photonics startup developing next generation integrated laser technology. The company is pioneering a proprietary platform that brings Titanium lasers onto a chip, enabling compact, scalable photonic systems for applications spanning quantum technologies, precision sensing, spectroscopy, frequency metrology, and biomedical imaging.
As the organization continues to scale its engineering team, they're seeking a Senior Photonics Engineer to help drive the development of this breakthrough technology from concept through experimental validation. This is a highly technical, hands on role offering significant ownership across device design, characterization, and system development within a collaborative R&D environment.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, simulation, development, and characterization of integrated photonic devices from concept through experimental validation.
- Design and simulate photonic integrated circuits, preparing layouts for fabrication.
- Develop optical experiments, build characterization setups, and perform detailed performance analysis.
- Work closely with fabrication and engineering teams to iterate designs and optimize device performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams as well as external academic and industry partners.
- Contribute to technical publications, conference presentations, and collaborative research initiatives.
- Help shape the future direction of the photonics engineering function as the company grows.
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a closely related field.
- Strong theoretical foundation in optics and photonics.
- Extensive hands on experience with optical or photonics experiments.
- Experience with photonic integrated circuit design, simulation, and characterization.
- Experience working with semiconductor lasers, ultrafast lasers, frequency combs, or integrated laser systems is highly desirable.
- A passion for solving complex technical challenges in an early stage, innovation driven environment.
- Competitive base salary of $130,000–$160,000
