A privately owned real estate investment and development company that has been building and managing properties since 1990 is seeking a Controller to help shape and lead the finance function for its growing portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly visible role where you’ll partner directly with executive leadership and help build processes, structure, and best practices from the ground up.

• Oversee accounting operations across multiple real estate entities
• Manage property accounting, property taxes, and insurance activities
• Lead CAM reconciliations across the portfolio
• Handle construction accounting for three active developments, including a major mixed‑use live/work/play project currently underway
• Develop and manage WIP reporting, lien releases, and asset component tracking processes
• Build accounting workflows, SOPs, and financial controls for the real estate division
• Partner closely with the SVP of Asset Management to help establish and scale the finance function
• Supervise and mentor a team of 2–3 accounting professionals
• Introduce new ideas, efficiencies, and best practices to strengthen the organization
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all entities
• Utilize Yardi to manage accounting and property‑related functions

This is a newly created function within a rapidly growing organization. The company expanded quickly and is now investing in building the infrastructure and processes needed to support continued growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Commercial real estate accounting experience, including both property management and construction accounting ideally
• 5+ years of accounting experience with Controller experience or a strong Accounting Manager ready to step into a Controller role
• Experience with CAM reconciliations and job costing
• Hands‑on experience with Yardi
• Experience building, leading, and developing small teams
• Strong process improvement mindset and ability to implement best practices
