Position Overview
The VP of CMA provides strategic and operational leadership to all ambulatory primary care and specialty practices at Merrimack Health. This role is a critical clinical leadership position responsible for driving excellence in outpatient care delivery, aligning operations with hospital-wide goals, and fostering growth in specialty service lines. , this leader will co-own the strategy, operations, clinical quality, provider engagement, and patient experience across the ambulatory enterprise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Alignment
- Partner with the administrative dyad to develop and execute a cohesive strategy for ambulatory physician practices in alignment with hospital mission, vision, and strategic goals.
- Champion growth initiatives, including service line expansion, provider recruitment, access optimization, and new care delivery models.
- Identify and implement best practices in ambulatory care to improve quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
- Provide clinical leadership across all outpatient specialty programs (e.g., primary care, cardiology, OB/GYN, Urology, general surgery, etc.).
- Collaborate with quality and safety teams to monitor, evaluate, and improve clinical outcomes and patient safety in ambulatory settings.
- Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Partner with practice administrators, nursing leaders, and support staff to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.
- Support and influence resource allocation, capital planning, space utilization, and technology deployment in outpatient settings.
- Promote operational excellence through standardization, access improvements, and team-based care models.
- Lead and engage primary care and specialty physicians, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of ambulatory care physicians and APPs.
- Serve as a key liaison between physicians and hospital leadership.
- Advance initiatives focused on enhancing the patient experience across the continuum of outpatient care.
- Promote access, convenience, equity, and innovation in care delivery models (e.g., virtual care, care coordination, population health).
Required:
MD or DO, board-certified in a medical specialty relevant to ambulatory care (primary care preferred) , active medical license in MA.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical practice and at least 3 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated experience in physician leadership, preferably in ambulatory or multi-specialty settings.
- Strong understanding of ambulatory operations, value-based care, and healthcare transformation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and team-building skills.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, navigate complex environments, and drive change.
- Advanced degree in healthcare administration, business, or public health (e.g., MHA, MBA, MPH).
- Experience in a community hospital or integrated health system setting.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
