Position: Linux Engineer- Only W2 and Locals

US Citizens and Green card holders would be considered only on W2.

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Linux Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure across development, testing, and production environments. The role involves system administration, troubleshooting, automation, and collaboration with Dev Ops, application, and security teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions).
  • Perform system monitoring, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning
    .
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and services
    .
  • Ensure system availability, reliability, and security compliance
    .
Troubleshooting & Support
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, OS, networking, and application issues
    .
  • Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and alerts to prevent outages.
  • Provide L2/L3 support and participate in incident and problem management
    .
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues.
Automation & Scripting
  • Develop and maintain shell, Bash, or Python scripts for automation and monitoring.
  • Support configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
    .
  • Automate deployment, patching, backups, and routine maintenance tasks
    .
  • Work with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP for Linux workloads.
  • Assist in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (basic to intermediate level).
  • Maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
    .
Security & Compliance
  • Implement system hardening, access controls, and security best practices
    .
  • Perform vulnerability patching and compliance checks
    .
  • Support audit and logging requirements
    .
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–6 years of hands‑on experience in Linux system administration
    .
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Linux OS administration and troubleshooting
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, firewalls)
  • Shell scripting (Bash/Python basics)
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).
  • Ability to work in production support and on‑call environments
    .
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Lab CI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes
    .
  • Understanding of Dev Ops practices and Infrastructure as Code
    .
  • Linux certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or LFCS
    .
