Court-Certified Spanish Interpreter - State of Hampshire

Prisma is actively seeking experienced, professional Court-Certified Interpreters (SPANISH) to join our team as Independent Contractors.

Provide ONSITE Interpreting (OSI) services to the State of New Hampshire Judicial Branch (NHJB) as an independent contractor.

• Experience with consecutive or simultaneous onsite (in person) interpretation between a courts representative and non-English speakers
• Polite form of expression, enunciation, and a high-level of customer service
• Deliver correct concepts and meanings between speaker and the Limited English Proficient (LEP) speaker
• Correct grammar, clarity and tones between Spanish and English
• Experience with following the speakers' direction, professionally interject when clarification is needed, and manage the flow of a conversation
• Refrain from side conversations with the LEP and entering into any disagreement with the customer or LEP
• Compliance with applicable ethics and standards

• Court-certified or Court-Registered in the State of New Hampshire – credentials required
• Agree to undergo annual criminal and state registry background checks:
  • Criminal
  • Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services (BEAS)
  • Division for Children, Youth & Families (DCYF)
• Strong understanding of NHJB procedures, e.g. precise documentation of services provided for each session
• At least one (1) year of onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreting experience in a legal/courts setting
• Two (2) professional references who can confirm your profession as an onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreter
• Minimum age:
  Must be 18+ years or older
• Minimum education:
  
  Must have High School Diploma
• Full fluency in English and Spanish
• Able to provide at least one of the following accreditations:
  • American Translation Association (ATA)
  • Trained or accredited through a higher education institution
