JOB TITLE:

Certified Spanish Language Interpreter

REPORTS TO:

The Office for Student Support Services Supervisor(s),

SUMMARY:

The Certified Spanish Language Interpreter assists with verbal interpretation and translation. He/she also provides interpreting services in a native language and in English in a variety of professional and personal settings. He/she provides translations for a variety of documents in a native language and in English for a variety of professional and personal documents. He/she assists in the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives for the Lawrence Public Schools.

DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

* Fluency in English and Spanish

* Willing and able to attend all training sessions.

* Certifications that verify completion of professional training.

* Able to interpret body language and use memory skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Valid certificate appropriate for the position.

* Meets all mandated health screening requirements

* A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

* Adheres to Code of Professional Conduct

* Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies, and administrative guidelines/procedures.
· Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team.

* Commitment to keep current with skills essential to the objectives of the position.

* Ability to facilitate student/family access to appropriate community resources.

PREFERRED:

* Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.

* Prior Experience in a school setting preferred

* Experience in IDEA policy and procedures.

WORK YEAR:
Full-time, 183 Days/Annually, $36,859 - $54,614
