Why This Role ExistsThe Assistant Branch Manager helps turn a busy branch into a trusted, well-run place where members receive thoughtful guidance and employees have the support to do their best work.
Working closely with the Branch Manager, you will help lead daily operations, coach the team, solve member issues, protect operational standards, and contribute to branch growth. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone ready to expand their banking knowledge and make a visible impact on members, employees, and branch performance.
What You’ll OwnDay-to-day branch leadership when the Branch Manager is unavailable
Consistent, welcoming member service and effective issue resolution
Employee scheduling, task coordination, training, coaching, and support
Operational accuracy, cash controls, security, confidentiality, and daily-work review
Member needs conversations, product guidance, referrals, and branch sales support
Open and close the branch and help keep daily operations organized, secure, and ready for members.
Create schedules, assign work, coach employees, and support Sales & Service Representatives and Sales & Service Supervisors.
Resolve member concerns by identifying the root cause, explaining options clearly, coordinating the appropriate correction, and following through.
Balance individual work, vault cash, recyclers, and ATMs; order and distribute cash; and provide transaction approvals and system overrides within assigned authority.
Process member transactions, respond to questions about Metro policies and procedures, and protect confidential member information.
Conduct needs-based conversations, open consumer deposit accounts, support consumer loan applications, communicate application status, and make effective referrals to retail partners.
Review daily work for accuracy, required documentation, signatures, security clearances, and account-opening standards.
Monitor assigned member contact events, support timely closure, attend branch management and sales meetings, and complete other responsibilities as needed.
The branch operates smoothly and securely, including during periods when the Branch Manager is unavailable.
Employees receive clear direction, practical coaching, and reliable support throughout the workday.
Member concerns are handled professionally, accurately, and with appropriate follow-through.
Cash, transaction, account-opening, and documentation controls are completed consistently and accurately.
Member needs conversations lead to useful solutions and appropriate referrals that support branch goals.

Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
At least four years of retail customer service experience.
Ability to provide day-to-day guidance to employees and work independently when needed.
Strong member service, communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, and computer skills.
Ability to work onsite five days per week, travel occasionally to other branches, move throughout the branch, and carry up to 50 pounds. The role also includes frequent computer use and periods of stationary work.
At least two years of supervisory experience.
Previous banking or credit union experience.
Associate degree in business administration or a related field.
