Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Plant Manager with a strong background in bakery production to oversee all aspects of our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient operations, meeting production goals, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Production
  • Lead and manage all daily plant operations, including scheduling, workflow, and production targets.
  • Ensure bakery production meets quality, safety, and cost objectives.
  • Monitor production metrics (yield, efficiency, downtime, waste) and take corrective action as needed.
  • Coordinate with planning and supply chain teams to align production with demand forecasts.
  • Oversee maintenance of plant equipment and production lines to minimize downtime.
Quality & Food Safety
  • Maintain and enforce food safety standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., USDA, FDA, HACCP, SQF, BRC).
  • Implement continuous improvement programs to increase product quality and consistency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality audits; ensure corrective actions are completed.
Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise, coach, and develop plant supervisors, team leads, and production staff.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability.
  • Lead hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Facilitate training programs that strengthen skills and support employee development.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety procedures.
  • Lead safety meetings, training, and incident investigations.
  • Champion a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and risk prevention.
Budget & Cost Control
  • Prepare and manage plant‑level budgets.
  • Implement cost‑saving initiatives and monitor performance against financial goals.
  • Optimize labor scheduling and resource allocation.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years in food manufacturing, with significant bakery production experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in a plant management or operations management role.
  • Familiarity with high‑volume automated bakery equipment (e.g., mixers, ovens, proofers, slicers, packaging lines).
  • Bilingual Spanish & English speaking.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of bakery production processes, ingredients, and quality control.
  • Familiar with food safety systems and certifications (HACCP, SQF, BRC, GFSI).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret production and quality data.
  • Experience with production planning and ERP/MRP systems.
Leadership & Communication
  • Effective leadership and team‑building skills.
  • Strong communication skills—both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Results‑oriented with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
Personal Attributes

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma skills.
  • Experience with planning and executing capital projects (e.g., new lines, equipment upgrades).
Working Conditions
  • On‑site role in a bakery production facility.
  • May involve shift work, extended hours, and weekends during peak production times.
