Electric Component Technician

7am – 3:30pm

Requirements
  • 1-5yrs experience performing circuit board rework tasks including removing and replacing surface mount devices using semi-automated equipment using a microscope
  • Experience using hot gas surface mount component rework equipment including rework for Ball Grid Array (BGA) devices preferred
  • Ability to work up to 6 hours per day under a microscope
  • certifications preferred
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager or appropriate Sales Applications Engineer to ensure total customer satisfaction
  • Read and totally understand the work instructions provided in the Traveler which is supplied with every Sales Order or job
  • Work closely with the QC Inspector to ensure that defined IPC procedures are followed and work standards are met
  • Soldering through hole components, surface mount components and wires on PCB's
  • Repair damaged traces, through hole pads, surface mount pads, through holes and internal circuitry
  • Replace damaged gold contacts
  • Repair major/minor laminate damage, mask damage, warp damage and PCB delamination
  • Remove and replace through hole and surface mount components
  • Operate milling machine for PCB modifications (if designated as a machine operator)
  • Plate damaged gold contacts
  • Observe Electrostatic Discharge Sensitivity rules and regulations
  • Observe safe handling procedures to prevent further damage to PCB's
  • Observe proper techniques when processing lead and lead free (RoHS) soldering jobs
  • Become proficient at operating Air Vac Engineering Hot Gas processing equipment to properly perform discrete removal and placement of all forms of surface mount components found on industry standard PCB assemblies
  • Become proficient at using X-Ray equipment and visual inspection techniques to verify successful processing of all types of BGA and other surface mount components
