Bread & Roses is seeking a bilingual, community-centered professional to support both direct meal program operations and administrative tasks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting the community, and contributing to food justice through hands-on service and operational support.
Programmatic & Community Operations
- Welcome, check in, and engage guests with warmth, dignity, and care
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with guests, volunteers, and community partners
- Support all aspects of preparing and serving community meals, including cooking, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Coordinate food pick-ups and deliveries from donors, farms, grocery stores, and wholesalers, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and timely transport
- Load, unload, sort, weigh, and organize donated goods and program supplies
- Safely operate and drive a small nonprofit van for food pick-ups, deliveries, mobile meal service, and program errands
- Support mobile and in-building meal service logistics, including set-up, break-down, and on-site organization
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for meal service, food distribution, and other program activities
- Supervise volunteers during operations, ensuring they feel supported and effective
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive community space that centers respect, dignity, and belonging
- Serve as a community connector, helping guests access program resources and partner supports
- Assist with high-volume food distribution and meal operations with reliability and care
Administrative & Reporting Support
- Complete data entry and maintain accurate guest record updates
- Organize, file, and maintain internal documentation and office systems
- Support donation acknowledgment processing, tracking, and thank-you correspondence
- Collect, track, and organize program data for monthly reports, documentation, and operational metrics
- Gather documentation and program evidence to support funding compliance and impact reporting
- Assist with general data collection, outcome tracking, and program documentation for evaluation and continuous improvement
- Run errands and support daily operational needs
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy across all organizational systems
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and support physical program needs
- Strong people skills and comfort working with diverse communities
- Organized, proactive, and team-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit, food programs, outreach, or community services
- Serv Safe certification
- Experience working in fast-paced environments

We are a busy community hub with four primary programs:
