Salary: $44,292.82 – $57,197.14 yearly (full‑time/40 hours)
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Performs various manual labor tasks, including specialized skills, to assist skilled tradesmen (carpenters, plumbers, masons).
- Performs tasks associated with installation of drainage, sewer, and water pipelines and conduits (positioning, joining, sealing, erecting and removing shoring and bracing for trenches and excavations).
- Digs trenches, refills excavations, spreads and levels dirt, gravel, and other materials using pick and shovel.
- Sets and repairs curbing; patches broken or eroded pavement, mixes and applies a variety of paving materials (mortars, concrete, cement) using hand tools to maintain roadways and sidewalks in safe condition.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains regulatory, historic, and informational signs, including digging holes and installing supports with hand or hand‑held power tools.
- Plants, transplants, prunes, trims, fertilizes trees, flowers, shrubs; seeds lawns and gardens; sprays for insects and plant diseases; performs related tasks such as cutting grass, raking leaves, watering as required for upkeep and beautification of public grounds.
- Loads and unloads trucks, using dollies; unpacks and stores supplies and equipment in stockrooms, storerooms, or warehouses; takes periodic inventories.
- Operates hand‑held power tools, tapping machines, and rodding machines.
- Operates motor vehicles, including light vehicles and trucks, in connection with assigned unit activities.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum entrance requirements: at least six months of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience in manual labor related to general construction or maintenance work.
