Job Summary
Job Summary The Lead Life Skills Coach is a great opportunity for a strong DSP, CBDS, or human services professional who is ready to grow into a leadership role while staying closely connected to the individuals we support. This role combines hands‑on work with adults with Autism with increased responsibility for helping coordinate day‑to‑day program operations.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct support through planning and facilitating groups, building meaningful relationships with individuals, and supporting skill development in the community. The role also helps coordinate staff schedules and coverage, group logistics, and overall program flow to support a high-quality, engaging CBDS program.
- Provide direct support and deliver contracted services to individuals participating in the Life Skills CBDS Program.
- Support individuals in setting personal goals and building skills related to daily living, community participation, health and wellness, relationships, self-advocacy, and pre-employment readiness.
- Coordinate and help manage the monthly group calendar for ASD Services participants, including preparation for assigned activities such as purchasing tickets, arranging transportation, and identifying parking.
- Help coordinate weekly staff schedules, day‑to‑day group operations, and coverage needs while serving as a reliable point person for the Life Skills CBDS team.
- Support daily program logistics, including van use, group readiness, supplies, and communication related to operational needs.
- Communicate proactively with program leadership regarding scheduling needs, participant concerns, program operations, and ideas for improvement.
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner and help reinforce documentation expectations across the CBDS team.
- Coordinate with the ASD Services Case Manager to support progress on individuals’ ISP goals.
- Build positive, professional relationships with individuals, families, community partners, and DDS personnel.
- Advocate for individuals to support greater independence, meaningful community engagement, and an improved quality of life.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of Autism, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and person-centered support practices.
- Ability to build positive relationships and engage individuals in meaningful, skill-building activities and community experiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to support schedules, group logistics, and program flow.
- Ability to take initiative, problem‑solve, and help provide day‑to‑day leadership and support to the team.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, staff, and community partners.
- Flexibility, reliability, patience, and a collaborative approach in a fast-paced community-based program.
- Experience in direct support, CBDS, day habilitation, residential, or other community-based human services settings preferred.
- Experience working with adults with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, or related developmental disabilities preferred.
- Prior experience mentoring peers, leading activities, or helping coordinate staff or daily program operations is a plus.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Valid driver’s license required with acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting background checks.
